Had a good time at the 5G event. Was hot, but not unbearably so. I ran around a lot and healed people and hit things and got a couple of compliments on my fighting (and have got proof of the spot on my arm that I don't block, via a nice bruise in that spot and nowhere else, :sigh:). So much cool RP with people and theory-crafting and trying to figure out the world.

- nope, the Veiled really do not want to fight necromancers on their own. Ouchy. But I totally got to use my new cure metabolic! Yay!
- meeting some of the new Veiled. :)
- meeting Avelina! (Founder of our Order.) She is awesome... and wow is it a good thing that she handed off leadership of the order...
- The Arcane Circle fight (otherwise known as "Battleship with Math") was very very rough. Trying to figure out how several different sets of equations relate to each other (not in a mathematical sense) when all you have is a couple of names for them told by an emotionless magic construct is tough. Trying to do that in the dark while everywhere around you people are fighting and dying is tougher. Spent most of the fight sprinting from one end of the field to the other to pick up groups that had either screamed for help or gotten rolled entirely.
- got to use my new mitigate death, too. Yay?
- creepy, creepy discussion with the Corpsborn. And an offer. Am SO TORN on that. Probably a bad idea, but... infos!
- managing to offend both Friedrich and Kurt at various points in the weekend. Nacera is most definitely not a lady. And proud of it.
- the Harvest's Maw is a jerk. Stupid waste 2 vitality. Was totally satisfying to run after him with Kurt, one of the new Veiled, and one of the Blood Angels and FINALLY beat him into the ground.
- scared farmers. Awww.
- meeting with the Silverfire King. WOW is he full of crazy. Wow.
- Kurt/Friedrich hopping up onto a rock to avoid being soaked when we broke a dam. :)
- figuring out how the clues recovered by Hollis' group related to a vision another PC had had earlier.
- helping Numya with her stuff. Her poor friend from the Golden Temple...
- Math Hell part 3. Narrowing our options down to 40 potential combinations, and then asking a couple of Veiled if they were willing to just pound through trying them out and sucking the damage rather than trying to do 4 digit long multiplication in the dark to check. Also, "That's not too many options left at this point, right?" "It's 40. 40 options." "That's why you're the math people."
- hearing Kaiden tell the story of him nearly being murdered several times by the oni. His glee was both adorable and a little alarming.
- OMG the Sunday morning mod. Creepy and alarming and awesome all at once.
- liked getting a bit of an inside view on some of the Scholarch's thought processes.
- Wow our family has the worst genetic traits ever. Was super glad other PCs were willing to get involved in that conversation and help out.
- really also enjoyed the final compass fights. And got a fantastic look from an NPC as I started explaining to a PC how he hadn't really just taken the effect that the NPC had delivered. :)

Can't wait for the next event already.

*grumblegrumble* I still didn't get to use my Cure Metabolic. I heard Aging calls being thrown around, but mostly just Maim by Aging, and it seems like everyone has FA and can fix their own maims, and so no one asked me for help. I have a feeling that if I saw it happen close to me I would have jumped over bodies to be like HAI GUYZ I HAVE CURE METABOLIC CAN I PLZ HELP?

Yeah, I got lucky enough to find someone who was rooted (and very happy to be cured).

Part of the problem is that the cures are *so* specific in this game, that
1. fighters aren't paying attention to what they're getting hit by other than to go 'I'm now weaknessed, couldn't resist it' and then blanking on the traits, which makes curing them harder; and
2. it doesn't occur to them that some of us can cure a weakness by aging by curing weakness, some by curing aging, and that it makes a difference.
3. they have no idea who to ask for what cures. Which is going to be a long slow learning process, cause it's complicated.

*nod* I suspect I just need to tell our fighters, going into a fight, "if you find yourself afflicted by [these traits which I know are going to be there*], please come see me. Or if you're otherwise afflicted by constructs of metabolism."

* I've found NPCs are usually willing to tell you what kind of traits will be thrown around. I asked Hollis what we could expect from the Twisted Path, and he told me, basically, Confusion.

And yeah, the semi-arbitrary trait categories are... something, all right.

I have a With Power Cure Drain/Stricken that remains unused. I just think of this as a boost to my healing pool until I find someone in a seriously bad way.

I also have a Cure fear that I am unlikely to use unless it is a BIG effect.

It would be good if we could organize ourselves. It will take some time.

I used my cure drain/stricken once at the first event only because Nacera was on the ball enough to go, "Hey! Rick can fix this. (out loud) Lewin! Get off the line and go fix Kurt!"

I'm trying to start to get a sense of who can cure what, so at least when a fighter comes to me to get something fixed I can tell them, "Go find a Veiled healer or a Horned healer." It's not the same thing as actually being able to fix them, but it's something...

I think I'm going to try and specifically organize the various healers at the next event, which may be futile with it being the crossover. Try and get us organized so at least the healers know who can cure what, and then work on getting that disseminated to everyone else.

So far I've just been memorizing who has what cures out of the rulebook and when someone comes to me for a cure, telling them to find a GT healer/Veiled healer/whatever. But specifically knowing what cures people have I haven't done so well on, except for within my team. It's probably worth working on.

I know GT Angel Callers have "Cure Fear" without attribute cost, but the cures happen so quickly efficiency doesn't seem to matter.

Yeah, *most* of the fear I've seen out there has either been straight damage or frenzies, which the 10-second cure isn't going to be useful for. But I will totally keep that in mind the next time one of my people gets rooted or stunned, which has happened a couple of times.

You know, assuming I see the stun, because I can't diagnose it. (I'm not bitter. OK, maybe a little.)

Came across a maim by fear last event, so there is that. Angel callers also have the general "cure elemental," which has to be useful for something someday. Angelic archers, weirdly enough the Cure metabolic, which being unfamiliar with accelerant, I'm not 100% sure cam be used on other people (it's not like the others, iirc).

It makes me a little sad this seems like it has to be worked out mechanically OOG with RP following afterwards; sort of reduces PvP RP. I guess a lot of games are like that, though.

Um, cure elemental is fantastic, on our side at least. Everything that the Silverfire Knights have that is 'by Fire' can be fixed with a cure elemental. I've seen both weakness and drains by fire from them pretty regularly.

I think that the Angelic archers get a cure mental, not a cure metabolic, but it looks like it's a normal cure.

Metabolic is the same as well, it just has a less-intuitive list of traits that it can cure. The ones we've seen so far are disease, poison, and aging (the last from the undead and necromancers in the fight last Friday night).

I don't think it's that it can't be worked out IG... I can just think of a lot more interesting things to talk about IG than comparing notes on who can cure what.

I've no doubt that's right about the rules; didn't check before commenting.

It doesn't seem like there's another way of dealing with organizing abilities better than oog since it's not that strongly linked with character background in any jointly known way beforehand. Sure, GT may find it easy to fight fear. How do characters know this other than reading all the rules and assuming folks have fought with each other long enough to know and talk as if they do?

So thinking about how to talk about this in a way that breaks game a little less, other than assuming talking about it doesn't.
