First of all, I love my serger. I owed one of my friends a fairly ordinary shirt. I've made several of them before. Because I believe in finishing shirts that are made for larping (assuming that they will get dirty, therefore need to be washed, therefore need to not have unfinished seams that will dissolve in the wash), it meant that doing these shirts I had to sew every seam three times - once for the actual seam, and then twice more as I folded under the pressed-open seams. Usually could get one done well in 4-5 hours, including finishing the sleeves and such.

Saturday morning I did everything but the hemming and sleeves (want to check length on both of those first) in a little over 2 hours. So very happy.

After that drove up to just south of the NH border near Nashua to have dinner with my parents, D, and his parents. They got along great, which was nice. Fun dinner.

After that, on to Randy's for the bardic. I did more talking and less singing/playing at this one (no playing at all, actually), but had a lot of fun. It was great that one of the few songs I did catch was a really sweet duet between [livejournal.com profile] kumir_k9 and his wife. Very very cute.

Amusing moment of the night was when [livejournal.com profile] kumir_k9 comes up to a group I was standing with and I told him quietly that they were talking about Wildlands. He commented that '3 out of 4 isn't bad', which confused me, since I was pretty sure all four people I was standing with either PC'd or NPC'd Wildlands. He said that D hadn't gone to Wildlands, to which D replies, "Yeah we did. Both of us. We were the terror twins," and this look of understanding comes over kumir_k9's face. It's all about context.

Sunday involved failing to sleep in properly, and watching Bleach and the end of Season 2 of Rurouni Kenshin. It's so sad that it goes downhill after that.

Fun weekend (as indicated above). Went to Birka for the first time. Luckily was warned, so I did show up in costuming and did not have to get 'loaner garb'. Was really neat, although a bit weird for me, as I was there 'alone', so spent most of the time meeting up with various people, wandering around for a while, and then drifting off before meeting up with other people. I love SCA people (would probably do it if I had more free time), they're some of the friendliest people I know. One of my most amusing moments of the day involved my roommate attempting to buy rabbit fur, and the seller joking about selling her 'Peter Cottontail' and 'Little Bunny Foo Foo'.

I was good, and only bought three things: black leather belt with some neat knotwork down it, a pretty torque that has some unidentified symbol on it, and a pin to hold my kilt closed (I lost the old pin some time ago). There were so many other shiny things, though...

After that, headed back to D's place and hung out for a few hours. We once again forgot that trying to get dinner at 6PM on a Sat is nearly impossible, so after driving around for the better part of an hour and finding nowhere where the wait was less than 45 minutes, we gave up and just went straight to the bardic, where we ate some hummus and cookies.

Had a wonderful time at the bardic, both with the hanging out and talking to people, and (of course) with the music. Always enjoy playing with [livejournal.com profile] kumir_k9 and singing along to songs, but I have to admit one of the highlights for me was heading downstairs into the basement, where [livejournal.com profile] kumir_k9, [livejournal.com profile] arianhwyvar and I pulled out some music and worked our way through a couple of recorder pieces for 3 (or 4) people. Haven't done that in forever, and it was a ton of fun.

Sunday was lots of relaxing. Very good weekend overall.
