Weekend was pretty good. That's a pretty good over all summary.

Few minor frustrations, but overall not too bad. I failed in my goal of getting some extra sleep though (although I did get more sleep than I have the past two weekends - is it sad that that's because I got a solid 4.5 hours Friday night and 5 Sat night?). It's hard to focus on sleeping when the spirit of a dead guy is singing important plot clues at you at 4 in the morning. What's even more frustrating is I don't remember what those plot clues were at this point.

For some reason (I have a couple of guesses, but I'm not sure exactly which one of them is correct), Omi entered the weekend having had undead ghouls following her around. Saying her name. Omi was not ok with this. People accused me of being paranoid and assuming that the ghouls were following me until I brought up the name thing, at which point they mostly just looked at me with pity and said that 'maybe' I wasn't being paranoid.

Even more amusing was when one of the ghouls showed up in game just as I was about to gate away to a mod. The ever-so-helpful person next to me, as soon as the undead said my name, starts yelling at me about consorting with undead. Thanks for helping me keep a low profile. :sigh: Luckily then we gated out.

Other amusing moment was when I went along with a group to spy on some huge bad guys as they had a meeting, due to my ability to take notes while in near-total darkness. We were being hidden from said bad guys by another bad guy (long story), who was going to cloak us in shadows. We wouldn't be seen unless we made noise and/or tried to interfere. Now, I am getting better in terms of sickness. I'm down to a slightly runny nose and occasional bouts of coughing, as opposed to near-constant coughing. Sadly, one of those bouts of coughing hit me while I was in the mod taking notes. So I'm sitting there, desperately trying to hold it back, alternating between, "Don't cough, don't cough... write faster. Don't cough..." Finally the mod ended, we faded into the shadows, and I got two steps out the door when I started coughing and couldn't stop for 15 seconds. All of the NPCs were apparently greatly impressed/amused.

I also got to have a vaguely bad-ass moment, where we were getting pushed up a ramp, and the two people holding it got crushed, and I managed to drive back the NPCs using spells long enough for them to regain their footing. Don't get to do that very often. Am also pleased with my growing ability to block. Never a good sign when Omi is the front line of a fight, but if I can occupy one person with them trying to hit me, that's one less person everyone else is fighting. :)

Am sad that I probably won't be able to make any more Karauth events this year.

The ever-so-helpful person next to me, as soon as the undead said my name, starts yelling at me about consorting with undead.

How common is this behavior from players in Core? This is partly what's keeping me from playing Tyrran campaigns - even occasionally; what seems to be an eagerness to burn the witch. "She said the words "I" and "chaos" in the same sentence! Necromancer RARRRGH."

Not all that common. I wasn't very clear in my post - he was actually teasing me about it, he wasn't seriously accusing me of consorting with undead.

The problem was that he yelled my name while an undead was looking for me. I was standing in a crowd of people, I could have been overlooked if it wasn't for him saying my name loudly while looking at me.

Aah. That's an *entirely* different set of problems, then. :D

For what it is worth, the crime of "Consorting with Undead" has been written out of most of the mainstream laws such as the laws of Evendarr and the Concordances of Avalon. While it made a certain amount of logical sense, the law was rather problematic given the number of undead plot villains. My own home chapter makes extensive use of major undead bad guys. That previously left us with a choice of either breaking the law or settling for a rather shallow level of interaction with the plot.

Yeah, that's always fun roleplay.

Bad guy: "Blah blah blah I am all powerful, blah blah blah but I have an interesting backstory if only you'd RP with me to find out what it is so you can find the key to destroying me..."

PCs: "We can't talk with you. You're an undead. Go die in a fire."

Bad guy: "Well... fuck. Maybe I'll just try to kill you all then."
